The Karachi Traffic Police have raised the speed limit on Shahrah-e-Faisal to 70 km/h for cars, light transport vehicles and motorcycles.
In accordance with a DIG Traffic Office notification, Heavy transport vehicles, including buses and trucks, will remain restricted to 30 km/h under the revised limits.
Sindh Police said in a social media statement that the measure was introduced to improve road safety and reduce accidents. Additionally, authorities aim to maintain smoother traffic flow in Karachi, Sindh.
Police urged citizens to follow the updated speed limits to avoid fines and support public safety.
In November last year, speed limits on major roads, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, were set at 60 km/h for light vehicles and motorcycles. Meanwhile, heavy traffic was restricted to 30 km/h.

The update comes as the Sindh High Court hears pleas linked to the e-challan system for traffic violations.
During the proceedings, the Transport Department’s counsel said the e-challan system had led to a 40% reduction in traffic accidents.
The court was also told that penalties in 2023 had increased from 1,000% to 5,000% compared with previous rates. However, several government officials had yet to submit replies in the case.
