AJK Election Results: PML-N Wins 8 of 12 Declared Seats

MUZAFFARABAD: AJK election results gave the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) eight of 12 declared seats in Monday’s first-phase polling, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won four.

The unofficial and provisional results covered 12 of 13 constituencies across Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber districts. The outcome of LA-6 Bhimber-II remained awaited.

PML-N candidate Azhar Sadiq won LA-1 Mirpur-I with 15,427 votes. PPP candidate Muhammad Afser Shahid received 9,832.

In LA-4 Mirpur-IV, PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed secured 20,172 votes. PPP’s Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad finished second with 13,865.

PML-N candidate Waqar Ahmed Noor won LA-5 Bhimber-I with 30,259 votes. PPP’s Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf received 29,574.

Chaudhry Tariq Farooq secured LA-7 Bhimber-III for PML-N with 35,490 votes. Independent candidate and former AJK prime minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq polled 25,100.

PML-N also won LA-9 Kotli-II, where Umair Naeem received 31,080 votes. PPP candidate Javed Iqbal Budhanvi secured 28,509.

Muhammad Asif won LA-11 Kotli-IV with 26,190 votes, while Muhammad Riasat Khan secured LA-12 Kotli-V with 35,168. Both contested for PML-N.

PML-N’s Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan won LA-13 Kotli-VI with 21,856 votes. Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Nisar Ansar Abdali received 15,859.

PPP won LA-2 Mirpur-II through Qasim Majeed, who secured 12,904 votes. Chaudhry Yasir Sultan took LA-3 Mirpur-III with 11,676.

PPP’s Zafar Iqbal Malik won LA-8 Kotli-I with 19,535 votes. Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin secured LA-10 Kotli-III with 12,421, according to the complete unofficial results.

Polling took place on July 27. Election officials extended voting by one hour beyond the scheduled 5 pm closing time.
