A Russia-Ukraine attack killed at least 14 people overnight as Moscow fired 73 missiles and 656 drones at Kyiv, Dnipro and other cities, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday.
Ukraine’s air force said Russia mainly targeted Kyiv and used missiles, drones and hypersonic Zircon weapons in the assault. Officials said air defences intercepted or neutralised many of the incoming weapons.
The strikes hit residential buildings, a clinic and energy facilities, according to Ukrainian authorities. Dnipro reported heavy casualties, while Kyiv saw major explosions and damage to high-rise buildings.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged U.S. President Donald Trump to send Patriot missile systems and interceptors after the attack. Zelenskyy said U.S. help was “absolutely necessary” for Ukraine’s air defence.

Russia’s defence ministry said it carried out a “massive strike” on Ukrainian defence industry facilities.
Moscow described the assault as retaliation for alleged Ukrainian attacks, while Ukraine denied Russia’s account of earlier events in occupied Luhansk.
Poland, a NATO and European Union member, scrambled military jets to protect its airspace after the Russian strikes, according to Poland’s military command.
