ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Power Division has cleared 11,695 pending net metering applications after verification, leaving 4,959 of the original 16,654 cases still under review.
The September 5 announcement followed directives from Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari to review applications held up during the transition from net metering to the net billing system.
The Power Division said the 11,695 applications had been verified and found compliant with applicable rules and regulations. The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has begun contacting those consumers directly through SMS, WhatsApp and other digital channels.
Consumers can also check their application status through PITC’s net metering verification portal. Authorities said applicants should not pay agents or other individuals for faster processing or approval.

The remaining 4,959 applications are being checked against relevant records, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s clarifications, and applicable rules and guidelines, according to the Power Division.
Leghari directed officials to accelerate scrutiny of the outstanding cases and provide affected consumers with clear updates. The federal government also reiterated that solar and renewable-energy deployment remained part of its energy policy.
