LAHORE: Punjab kite flying crackdown operations led to 9,813 arrests and 9,445 cases across the province, Punjab police said Thursday.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said officers took action against suspects for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act.
Police recovered 172,296 kites and 14,833 strings with four spinning wheels, according to the spokesperson. In Lahore, police arrested 4,575 suspects and registered 4,405 cases.
Police also recovered 121,630 kites and 4,723 strings with spinning wheels from the provincial capital.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem said police would not tolerate kite flying anywhere in the province.

He said police would also arrest people involved in the online sale of kites and metallic thread.
The provincial police chief urged parents to keep children away from what he called a deadly activity. He also asked citizens to report kite flying through the 15 police helpline.
