The Anti-Terrorism Court, presided over by Judge Khalid Arshad, has rejected the interim bail pleas of Hafiz Farhat Abbas and Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood.
Both individuals were implicated in a case involving the arson of a police vehicle and subsequent vandalism.
Following the court’s decision, significant drama unfolded in the courtroom. Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood, a Member of the Provincial Assembly, swiftly left the courtroom after his bail was denied. He challenged the decision, stating, “I will appeal to the High Court.”
Similarly, Hafiz Farhat Abbas also quickly exited after his bail rejection. He voiced his discontent with the ruling, asserting, “The tyranny has reached its peak. Everyone knows on whose orders the bail was rejected. I will approach the High Court.”
These statements underline the contentious nature of the case and the high tensions surrounding the legal proceedings. Both individuals have signalled their plans to seek further legal recourse in response to what they perceive as unjust decisions by the Anti-Terrorism Court.
