BLACK SEA, Romania: A Romanian F-16 interception destroyed a maritime drone detected near work at the Neptun Deep gas platform on August 20, Romanian authorities said.
The Romanian Coast Guard detected the vessel about 80 nautical miles east of Constanța and only a few hundred metres from the offshore works.
Authorities deployed two F-16 fighter jets and authorised them to open fire, according to Constanța INFO. Interim Defence Minister Radu Miruță said the maritime drone was carrying explosives.
Miruță also said the drone did not originate from Ukraine; however, he did not identify another country or organisation as its source.

The incident occurred within Romania’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea. The source does not disclose the drone’s model, explosive payload, manufacturer or technical specifications.
