Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said a PTA network upgrade may temporarily affect mobile device registration services from 5:00 p.m. on June 24 to 6:00 a.m. on June 25.
The authority said the scheduled upgrade aims to improve network security, stability and overall system performance. It said the Mobile Device Registration System may face intermittent disruptions or temporary outages during the maintenance window.
The PTA said its technical teams would monitor the upgrade throughout the process. It added that special steps were being taken to keep the impact on customers minimal.
The authority said all services would be restored after the upgrade ends. The advisory applies to users trying to access mobile device registration services during the scheduled maintenance period.
The update comes after the federal government introduced an instalment facility for Pakistan Telecommunication Authority taxes on imported smartphones. Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the Finance Bill 2026–27 in the National Assembly.
