Gilgit-Baltistan: Pakistan People’s Party is moving to form a coalition government in Gilgit-Baltistan after emerging as the frontrunner with 13 general seats.
PPP sources said the party wants to include other groups to ensure a stable administration in the region. The party has given the green light to a coalition setup.
The Istehkam Pakistan Party is likely to join the Gilgit-Baltistan government. Sources said the two parties are discussing a power-sharing formula, and talks are nearing a settlement.
The IPP has sought two ministries and the speaker’s office in the assembly. PPP negotiators may offer one ministry and other parliamentary offices, with two ministries possible if talks stall.
Regional leaders of both parties have already met. PPP Gilgit-Baltistan President Amjad Hussain is expected to meet Bilawal Bhutto within two days and brief him on government-formation efforts.

Sources said the final power-sharing formula will need approval from the PPP leadership. They said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen will not be invited to join the government.
The PPP is also in contact with independent members. Two independents are expected to join the party soon, while another independent has joined the IPP after agreeing with the PPP, sources said.
The PPP is likely to receive four women’s seats and two technocrat seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, sources added.
