KARACHI, Sindh: Jamaat-e-Islami protests against the petroleum levy and rising inflation will take place at 510 key locations and highways across Pakistan on Friday, Karachi chief Munim Zafar said.
Zafar said roads would remain closed during the demonstrations. However, protesters would give priority access to ambulances and other emergency services.
The protests are planned in major cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.
In Karachi, protest caravans will begin moving from several locations at 4:00 pm, according to Zafar. Routes include Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub Road, National Highway and Super Highway. Rallies will also leave from Orangi, Korangi, Pakistan Chowk and Sher Shah.
Zafar said the caravans would converge at Mazar-e-Quaid before a larger demonstration proceeds towards Shahrah-e-Faisal.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its protest campaign until the petroleum levy is withdrawn. Zafar also urged citizens to join the demonstrations and press for their demands through collective action.
