The PPP budget deadlock with the federal government persisted on Saturday as coalition partners continued talks before the expected June 10 presentation of the federal budget 2026-27.
A government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met Pakistan Peoples Party leaders at the Foreign Ministry.
Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman represented the PPP in the talks. Finance Ministry officials also joined the government team.
Party sources said the PPP raised concerns over additional taxes, provincial subsidies and the development budget.
The meeting ended without a breakthrough. However, both sides continued efforts to resolve the deadlock before the budget session.
PPP sources called the talks routine pre-budget consultations. They said several rounds could take place before the government tables the budget.

A PPP leader said the party was trying to reach an agreement with the government on fiscal measures linked to new International Monetary Fund demands.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would attend the next meeting after returning from the Gilgit-Baltistan election campaign.
PPP leaders said they opposed new taxes. They urged the government to broaden the tax base instead of increasing pressure on existing taxpayers.
