ISLAMABAD: The petrol price in Pakistan will remain at Rs335.18 per litre on July 26 and 27, the Petroleum Division said after five consecutive daily increases.

High-speed diesel will stay at Rs 383.46 per litre, while kerosene oil will remain at Rs 301.14 per litre during the two-day period.

The Petroleum Division said the rates announced for July 25 would remain in effect because Platts does not publish international petroleum-product prices on weekends.

The federal government had raised petrol by Rs3.66 per litre for July 25, increasing its price from Rs331.52 to Rs335.18 per litre.

It also increased the high-speed diesel rate by Rs4.80 per litre, taking it from Rs378.66 to Rs383.46. That adjustment marked the fifth consecutive daily increase in fuel prices.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik earlier said movements in international oil markets had compelled the government to revise petroleum prices daily.

Malik said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority would calculate the daily rates transparently and fairly. The government introduced daily pricing after escalating regional hostilities caused sharp fluctuations in international oil markets.

The unchanged rates apply on Sunday, July 26, and Monday, July 27. The Petroleum Division has not announced the prices that will take effect after that period.
