Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the federal government has introduced a facial recognition system for pensioners that will allow them to complete verification from home.
Aurangzeb announced the measure during a National Assembly session while presenting the budget. He said the digital system would help pensioners avoid tiring trips to the bank for identity checks.
The minister said pensioners would verify their identity through facial recognition technology from their own homes.
Aurangzeb said the federal government had taken measures to widen the tax base. He said digitalisation and artificial intelligence remained central to reducing discretionary powers.
