In a recent development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to unveil the national squad for the forthcoming World Cup, posting a detailed assessment of the team’s latest performances.
The PCB, grappling with the necessity of forming a powerful and well-rounded team for the World Cup scheduled in India from October 5 to November 19, is expected to announce the lineup shortly. Although Pakistan is seen as a strong contender for the title, their best form will be essential to outclass other elite teams.
Despite finalizing the team recently, following discussions with the captain, head coach, and selection committee, changes are anticipated. While there’s a consensus to retain the core of the Asia Cup team, spinner Abrar Ahmed might find a spot in the 15-member team, considering the pitch conditions in India.
While the list of players under scrutiny remains undisclosed, it is believed that the selection panel will closely evaluate the recent outings of the batsmen, bowlers, and all-rounders. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf plans to seek insights from former skippers and players before green-lighting the final squad.
The assessment process is projected to conclude in a couple of days, with the finalized squad likely to be announced by next Tuesday or Wednesday.
