Pakistan has prompted an emergency UN Security Council meeting to address India’s aggressive actions and threats to South Asian peace, following heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Pahalgam incident. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar will present evidence of India’s provocations, demanding global action.

At the request of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s UN envoy, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, confirmed the emergency session to discuss India’s destabilising moves, including suspected false-flag operations in Pahalgam and military escalations along the Loc. “Our appeals resonate globally,” Iftikhar stated, emphasising the urgency of addressing India’s actions to prevent large-scale conflict.

US Ambassador Rizwan Saeed highlighted shared American concerns, noting, “South Asian tensions have global repercussions, and the US must help de-escalate.” Pakistan’s UK High Commissioner, Dr. Faisal, pinpointed Jammu and Kashmir as the core issue, stating, “Without resolving Kashmiri aspirations, peace remains elusive.” Pakistan aims to present documented evidence at the UN, advocating a Kashmir-centric solution for lasting stability.
