TEHRAN: The Khamenei Government Week message urged Iran’s government to tackle inflation and unemployment while boosting domestic production and gradually reducing the US dollar’s role in the economy.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued the message on August 28. He also praised President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration for maintaining essential goods, services and energy supplies amid sanctions and recent conflict.
Khamenei called for more investment in productive sectors and wider use of what Tehran calls “resistance economy” policies.
He said authorities should rely more heavily on domestic production, using imports only when local supply remains insufficient.
He also urged officials to adopt technologies and innovations developed by young Iranian specialists. The message identified agriculture, industry, education, communications, culture and social affairs as areas where new approaches could accelerate development.

Meanwhile, Khamenei placed strong emphasis on national unity. He warned officials against rhetoric that could weaken public morale or deepen political divisions, including framing policy choices as “war versus negotiations” or “compromise versus warmongering.”
He said government decisions in economic, political, cultural and security affairs should consider their effect on social cohesion.

Khamenei also called for greater strategic attention to teachers, universities, seminaries, nurses, physicians and families involved in education and social development. Iranian state broadcaster Press TV published the Government Week message at 5:20 p.m. Tehran time on August 28.
