The Pakistani government plans to dissolve five ministries by July 30, including the Ministries of Information Technology, Industry and Production, Health, Kashmir Affairs, and States and Frontier Regions.
Discussions are ongoing about the future of the employees from these ministries, with several options being considered.
According to sources, proposed measures for the affected employees include offering a golden handshake to those nearing retirement, reallocating others to different ministries, or placing them in a surplus pool. The Institutional Reforms Cell, in coordination with the concerned ministries, will craft these proposals and review them in discussions with the International Monetary Fund.
A definitive decision on these measures will follow a briefing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
This move follows an earlier directive by PM Shehbaz, prompted by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s calls for reducing government size, which aims to eliminate ministries deemed burdensome to the nation.
