Islamabad: Pakistan rejected remarks on Azad Jammu and Kashmir by some UK-based overseas activists and British lawmakers, the Foreign Office said Monday.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan was concerned over what it called irresponsible and unrealistic insinuations by some expatriates about the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson advised such individuals to avoid interfering in the internal affairs of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Foreign Office also criticised statements and questions raised by some British Members of Parliament. It said the remarks reflected a lack of understanding of historical background and facts.
The spokesperson said Pakistan was a sovereign and democratic state. The statement said Pakistan believed in non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs and expected the same from others.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir remained committed to peaceful assembly, freedom of expression and democratic participation.
However, it said vandalism, damage to public services, attacks on hospitals, and the killing of civilians or law enforcement personnel could not be accepted.
The spokesperson urged the British government to ask individuals supporting banned organisations to respect democratic processes, court decisions and the rule of law.
The statement said the constitutions of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir guaranteed democratic values, judicial independence and the rule of law.
