At least nine Pakistanis, including children, belonging to the same family were killed and 23 others injured in a fire incident at a villa housing expatriate workers in Kuwait City.
Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria while talking to local news channel ‘ARY News’ confirmed about the incident and said he was informed by relatives of the family in Punjab about the dismal incident.
According to Reuters Six people, at least one of whom was a child, suffocated to death after a blaze tore through a house that had been subdivided into multiple residences in Farwaniya, a suburb 15 km (10 miles) south of Kuwait City, and three others died from injuries in hospital, a Fire Service Directorate spokesman said.
Last week, a blaze at the Gulf state´s central jail killed one inmate and wounded 56 other people, including a fireman.
Expatriate workers, mostly from the Indian subcontinent, make up around 70 percent of oil-rich Kuwait´s 4.3-million population.
