Actor Ryan Reynolds urged Sony Pictures to publicly defend his wife, actor Blake Lively, during the August 2024 promotion of “It Ends With Us”, newly published texts show.
Page Six obtained the exchanges from court documents related to Lively and co-star Justin Baldoni’s legal dispute. Its Friday account details Reynolds’ frustration with the studio’s response to negative coverage.
Reynolds argued that Sony should characterise the backlash as a coordinated campaign by a crisis public relations team. He accused the studio of failing to protect Lively and demanded that it confront Baldoni.
Baldoni has denied Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and an orchestrated smear campaign.
“Sony needs to step up for real,” Reynolds wrote.
He had drafted a statement for the studio.
Sony never released the draft, and Reynolds pressed Zavala to act immediately. He argued that Baldoni needed to understand the studio knew about the conduct Reynolds alleged.
Lively then faced criticism over her film promotion and allegations about her behaviour on set. Reynolds maintained that she should not have to handle the resulting publicity problems herself.

His messages sought a public intervention from Sony, rather than leaving Lively to answer the criticism alone. He described the studio’s handling of the situation as unacceptable and insisted that it take a firmer position.
Sony publicly backed Lively in December 2024 after she made her allegations against Baldoni.
The co-stars’ legal dispute ended in a settlement in May, two weeks before their scheduled trial.
