Nicki Minaj finds herself embroiled in a $5 million lawsuit, initiated by former fan Tameer Peak, who alleges that the rapper inflicted reputational damage, emotional distress, and substantial financial losses.
The legal battle originates from a falling out between Minaj and Peak, once a self-proclaimed loyal “Barb” – a nickname for Minaj’s dedicated followers.
Peak claims the dispute began during the 2017 “Nicki Hate Train,” a period when Minaj accused certain fans of undermining her career. He alleges that during an Instagram Live session with over 100,000 viewers, Minaj publicly chastised him, marking the onset of his difficulties.
Furthermore, Peak contends that during the 2020 Super Bowl weekend, Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, physically assaulted him. He accuses Minaj of using her social media and broadcast channels to mock him, actions he says alienated him from other fans and resulted in significant emotional and financial harm.
As reported by TMZ, the lawsuit details were filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Peak accuses Minaj of slander, citing instances where she questioned his mental stability and implied he was financially dependent on welfare.
Minaj has not personally addressed the lawsuit; however, her attorney, Judd Burstein, defends her by stating that Peak has been harassing Minaj on social media for years. Burstein described the lawsuit as an attempt to financially exploit Minaj through baseless claims, warning that Peak might end up responsible for Minaj’s legal expenses under California law.
This lawsuit has unsettled Minaj’s fanbase, leaving many to speculate about the outcome of this legal confrontation.
