The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has implemented significant changes to its policies regarding identity and registration documents for families in Pakistan, aiming to enhance the security, accuracy, and legal recognition of documents such as the Child Registration Certificate (CRC) and the Family Registration Certificate (FRC).

NADRA has discontinued the use of the B-Form for children’s passport applications. Parents must now obtain a Child Registration Certificate (CRC) instead. This ensures each child has a unique, verified identity, enhancing data reliability and security.

The CRC offers a dedicated document for minors, thereby reducing the risks associated with shared family records. Families can apply at NADRA offices or through the mobile app. The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) now serves as a legally recognised document. It applies to court cases, inheritance disputes, and other proceedings, going beyond simple record-keeping.

This upgrade provides official proof of family ties, which can be useful in legal matters. NADRA designed it to accommodate modern family dynamics, including multiple marriages.

New FRC Format and Family Types

The updated FRC includes detailed information for various structures:

  • Alpha (by birth): Covers parents and siblings.
  • Beta (by marriage): Includes husbands, wives, and children.
  • Gamma (by adoption): Accounts for adopted family members.

For men with multiple marriages, the details of each family appear separately, eliminating previous ambiguities. Applicants must provide an assurance verifying the accuracy of the data, with FRCs based solely on NADRA records.

Unlisted members need to register individually. If there are any inaccuracies in entries, corrections can be made at NADRA offices or through the app, which enhances document security and usability. NADRA encourages timely updates to ensure compliance with relevant laws. You can visit NADRA centres or use the app to submit applications.
