Due to significant safety concerns, Mercedes-Benz India has announced a recall for the previous generation of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S, E 53 4Matic+, and the CLE Cabriolet. The recall, issued by a well-known German manufacturer, addresses issues that may pose safety risks.

The recall specifically targets an electric connector coupling issue in the E-Class models, which, if unresolved, could lead to a fire hazard. This problem affects 50 units of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S manufactured between September 14, 2022, and October 12, 2023, and 20 units of the E 53 produced from January 21, 2021, to January 20, 2023.

According to the official Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) filing, the electrical connector for the transmission wiring harness may not comply with current standards, allowing water ingress that could eventually cause a short circuit. This poses a significant risk of thermal overload and fire, especially while the vehicle is parked.

Mercedes-Benz.India has issued another recall recently, of 50 units of E63 AMG, 20 units of E53 AMG, and 59 units of CLE Cabriolet. Check details:

Additionally, the recall encompasses 59 units of the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet built between April 13, 2024, and June 24, 2024. These vehicles are being recalled due to the absence of a critical warning label that informs about the automatic deactivation of the front passenger airbag. Without this label, there is a risk that occupants may incorrectly assume that the airbag will deactivate when a rear-facing child seat is placed in the front passenger seat. If the airbag remains active, it increases the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

Owners of the affected models are advised to contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer for a thorough inspection and necessary repairs at no cost. The company is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and customer service by promptly addressing these issues and ensuring the well-being of its customers and their families.
