LOS ANGELES, United States: ABC denied reports that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will end in 2027, calling claims about the future of comedian and television host Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show “inaccurate” and “purely speculative.”
Page Six reported on September 8 that Kimmel’s current season could be his last, citing a source who said his contract would not be extended after it expires in May 2027. ABC Entertainment disputed that account the same day.
Kimmel agreed to a one-year contract extension with ABC in December 2025 that keeps him on the network through at least May 2027. He has hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” since its launch in 2003.
TMZ separately reported on September 8 that staff members had discussed Kimmel potentially pitching other television shows and podcasts. The outlet did not report that ABC had formally decided to cancel his late-night programme.
Kimmel returned to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on September 8 after his customary summer break, during which guest hosts filled in for him.

Kimmel also hosts ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, allowing him to pursue other television projects while continuing his late-night role.
