The Punjab Assembly turned into a shouting contest after the opposition alleged massive corruption worth millions of rupees in the provincial government’s much-hyped Youth Festival program and demanded probe into it.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashud Ahmed Khan, after rejecting the allegations, claimed that he had got conducted phased audit of the entire program and found no element of corruption in it.

The Punjab Assembly session discussed affairs of Youth, Sports and Archaeology Departments held under the chairmanship of PA Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal.

Opposition Leader Mian Mahmood Rasheed alleged that the government had wasted hard-earned tax payers’ money. He claimed that it was a common public perception about massive corruption worth millions of rupees in it. He was of the view that the government had purchased two hundred thousand track suits, Rs 1100 each, for the festival but the actual amount of the track suit was just Rs 400. He termed it a mega scam which should be properly investigated.
