PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: The KP AI Digital Institute has been established as a seven-member body to develop technology frameworks and accelerate digitisation across the provincial education department.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department said the institute will prepare technical guidelines, recommend systemic improvements and identify manual procedures that can be replaced with digital processes.
It will also develop modern applications to improve transparency and service delivery within the department. The initiative forms part of a wider push to integrate artificial intelligence and digital systems into public education.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has already begun expanding AI-based education. The provincial government previously approved artificial intelligence classes from grades 6 to 12, while the Education Department has been developing curriculum, teacher training and technology infrastructure for the programme.

The province also opened a Global Virtual School in Peshawar in August, equipped with AI-supported learning systems, digital laboratories and virtual classrooms. The government plans to connect more than 500 schools to the wider virtual-education network.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation separately signed an agreement with Khan Academy Pakistan in September to train education facilitators in artificial intelligence and technology-enabled learning.
The department has described the new AI and Digital Institute as Pakistan’s first initiative of its kind, although that national “first” claim has not been independently established.
