King Charles hosted a Cancer Research UK reception at St James’s Palace in London as the charity marked 125 years of work, Buckingham Palace said.
Queen Camilla joined the King at the event. Princess Kate also attended with the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Buckingham Palace said the royal family thanked Cancer Research UK for “125 years of life-changing research.” The palace said the charity works to improve understanding, prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.
The event also marked a rare joint engagement for King Charles and Princess Kate. Both royals have faced cancer diagnoses, and the King remains under treatment.
Cancer Research UK has named King Charles as its patron since 2024. The role was announced when he returned to public duties after his diagnosis.

The palace said cancer survival in the United Kingdom has doubled over the past 50 years. It also said 8 in 10 people who receive cancer drugs in the UK receive a drug developed with the charity.
The reception brought together clinicians, researchers and volunteers. It also highlighted the charity’s work with patients and families affected by cancer.
Princess Kate has gradually increased public engagements after cancer treatment. She has taken part in more charity work linked to cancer since her health journey.
