Karachi roads closed fourth day as authorities continue security arrangements following protests that erupted last Sunday after the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The demonstrations outside the US consulate in Karachi turned deadly, with at least 11 people killed and several others injured, according to the source.

With heightened security still in place, traffic diversions and roadblocks remain active across key parts of the city.

Karachi Roads Closed Fourth Day: Key Routes Blocked

Traffic police say multiple major roads have been sealed with barriers and containers, and personnel have been deployed to restrict movement.

According to the advisory in the source, closures include:

  • MT Khan Road is closed with barriers and personnel on-site
  • PIDC Bridge, blocked with shipping containers
  • Roads leading towards Jinnah Bridge and Mai Kolachi are blocked for general traffic
  • Jinnah Bridge is closed with barriers installed
  • Boat Basin to Mai Kolachi Road is closed as part of the security measures

Authorities said residents living in restricted areas will be allowed to enter or exit after presenting identity documents.

Following the reported killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, protests broke out in several countries, including Pakistan. Demonstrators in Karachi carried black flags and chanted anti-US and anti-Israel slogans, the source said.

During the Karachi protest, demonstrators breached the outer wall of the US consulate compound and damaged property. The incident also involved gunfire, which resulted in multiple deaths.

As the security situation remains sensitive, authorities have continued restrictions on key arteries to manage movement and prevent further unrest.
