KARACHI: A Sindh public holiday will be observed across the province on Wednesday, July 29, to mark the annual urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
The provincial government announced the closure through an official notification issued on Monday, July 27.
The holiday will apply to provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, and corporations. In addition, it will apply to local councils under the Sindh government’s administrative control. Essential services will remain operational.
The notification identified the holiday as 14 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to July 29, 2026.
Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s annual urs begins on 14 Safar. It continues for three days at his shrine in Bhit Shah, Sindh.

The commemorative programme will include poetry recitals, literary conferences and other cultural activities celebrating the Sufi saint’s poetry and teachings.
