The Sindh government has designated Karachi airport and its vicinity as a “red zone” due to increased security concerns, following consultations with heads of law enforcement agencies ahead of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024.

With the commencement of IDEAS 2024 on Tuesday, officials from the District Malir police stated that access to the red zone will be limited to passengers and individuals on official duty in the port city.

Due to recent security incidents, Karachi Airport and surrounding areas have been declared a red zone. To bolster security, checkpoints have been set up at five strategic locations around the airport: Star Gate, CAA Club, Madame Bridge, Model Morr, and ASF Road Rangers Post. Police and Rangers will continuously conduct detailed inspections of individuals and vehicles to mitigate any security risks.

Additionally, passengers travelling from Drigh Road towards Malir Cantt or Model Colony should route their journey through Malir Halt, avoiding Star Gate or CAA Club Road.

Those heading to the airport are encouraged to have their flight tickets and national identity cards ready to expedite the security screening process.
