PARIS, France: France Télévisions removed the online replay of a France 5 programme after Adèle Haenel Gaza remarks accused Israel of committing genocide in Palestine and France of complicity.
Haenel made the comments during a September 9 appearance in which she was discussing her first book and speaking about sexual violence.
The broadcaster removed the programme from its replay service the following day after complaints.

— Press TV Français (@fr_presstv) September 14, 2026In her concluding statement, Haenel called for sanctions against Israel and the liberation of Palestine. She also described Israel’s actions as genocide. That characterisation was her allegation, not an independently established legal finding.

Haenel later said she had submitted a different version of her closing remarks before the broadcast. That text referred to genocide in Palestine but did not explicitly name Israel as the perpetrator.
She argued afterwards that directly naming Israel changed the meaning of the statement because it assigned responsibility rather than describing the situation in passive terms.
The programme appearance also covered Haenel’s book on violence against children and the abuse she said she suffered as a minor. A French court convicted director Christophe Ruggia in April of sexually assaulting her.
