Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested in Wisconsin on May 26 and charged with five counts linked to an alleged domestic abuse incident, police said.
The Hobart/Lawrence Police Department said the disturbance occurred on the morning of May 23. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jacobs turned himself in before being booked into Brown County Jail.
Police listed the charges as battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.
Jacobs denied the allegations through his lawyers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Attorneys David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schoenfeld and Clarence Duhac said the case was in its early stages and asked for fairness while the judicial process continues.
Jacobs, 28, joined the Packers after beginning his NFL career with the Las Vegas Raiders. The former first-round pick has recorded four 1,000-yard rushing seasons, three Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro nod.
