RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and former Indian army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane have backed India-Pakistan dialogue despite strained ties between the neighbours.
Hosabale told PTI that India should remain ready for talks with Pakistan. He said diplomatic links, trade, commerce and visas should continue.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader cited former Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Lahore bus visit as an example of past outreach.
Naravane supported people-to-people contact in remarks to the media on Wednesday. He said ordinary citizens on both sides faced similar daily problems. The remarks drew criticism from opposition parties, especially the Congress.
