Islamabad: Pakistan downed Indian jets in an “8-0” outcome during last year’s Marka-e-Haq clash, Deputy Chief of Air Staff Projects Air Vice Marshal Tariq Ghazi said on Wednesday.
Ghazi made the claim at a first-anniversary briefing alongside Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and Rear Admiral Shifaat Ali Khan.
He said the Pakistan Air Force shot down eight Indian aircraft, including four French-made Rafale jets, one Su-30, one MiG-29, one Mirage 2000 and one multi-role unmanned aerial system.
Associated Press reported that Pakistan’s military said it downed eight Indian fighter jets during the conflict, while India had acknowledged suffering some losses but did not provide details.

Ghazi said the 87-hour conflict also damaged several other Indian aircraft beyond repair.
The PAF officer said Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Sidhu led the operational response and that the force maintained a strong air-defence posture through combat air patrols, scrambles and full-spectrum monitoring.
He said the PAF used integrated multi-domain assets during the operation and continuously monitored Indian Air Force deployments, communications and concealed movements.
The May 2025 clash followed India’s strikes inside Pakistan after an attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir; Pakistan denied involvement and called for an independent investigation, AP reported.
The conflict ended on May 10 after a US-brokered ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, according to AP.
