GTA 6 trailer expectations faded on May 12 after Rockstar Games posted a routine “Red Dead Online” update instead of a new Grand Theft Auto announcement, disappointing fans who had predicted a reveal.
The speculation had been driven by fan theories tied to planetary alignments and Rockstar’s previous social media patterns. Those expectations shifted after Rockstar announced the Red Dead Redemption 2 online event.
Rockstar shared the Red Dead Online update on the Chinese social media platform BilliBilli; it had previously received posts before global platforms such as X and Instagram.
The announcement listed missions with cash rewards and bonus freebies for Red Dead Redemption 2’s live-service community. The post’s routine nature suggested a GTA 6 trailer was unlikely at that moment.
Fans are still watching for possible surprise announcements ahead of Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call on May 22. Take-Two Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick has reconfirmed GTA 6’s November 19 release date.
Interest is expected to shift to price and pre-order details once Rockstar releases the next GTA 6 trailer.
