WASHINGTON: Taylor Swift songs removed from two Team Trump TikToks included “August” and “Father Figure,” which no longer play in videos posted by US President Donald Trump’s campaign account.
The campaign posted the latest TikTok video on August 3. It showed Trump and first lady Melania Trump watching fireworks while playing “August” by singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her 2020 album Folklore.
The post’s caption said Swift would be “super excited” that the campaign had used her song. TikTok subsequently displayed a message saying the copyright owner had not made the sound available in the user’s country, The Independent reported.
A November 2025 Team Trump video featuring “Father Figure” from Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl also lost its audio. That post combined footage of Trump, his son Barron and the aftermath of the July 2024 assassination attempt.
Neither Swift’s representative nor the White House immediately commented on the removals, Reuters reported. No public statement confirmed who requested the restrictions.

Team Trump later posted a parody of Swift’s Red album and altered several song titles to promote Trump’s political messages.

The White House has previously used Swift’s “High Infidelity” and “The Fate of Ophelia” in separate TikTok videos. Swift endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in 2024, after which Trump publicly criticised the singer.
