The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in double overtime Saturday night to take a 2-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Final.
Shea Theodore scored at 5:38 of the second overtime. His shot went in off Carolina goalie Brandon Bussi’s skate.
Mitch Marner gave Vegas a 4-0 lead in the second period with the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history.
Carolina then forced overtime with four third-period goals. Jordan Martinook, Taylor Hall and Jordan Staal scored 39 seconds apart.
Andrei Svechnikov tied the game on a six-on-four power play with 1:42 left in regulation.
Bussi replaced Frederik Andersen to start the third period and made 18 saves. Andersen had allowed four goals on 16 shots.

Vegas goalie Carter Hart stopped 29 shots. The Golden Knights also had two second-period goals erased after Carolina won video challenges.
The teams will meet in Game 4 on Tuesday night in Las Vegas. Teams that lead 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Final have won the Cup 46 of 57 times.
