Foreign ministers from 11 countries condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla vessels in international waters off Greece. They called the naval action a violation of international law.
The statement followed an Israeli naval operation against vessels from the Spring 2026 mission. This mission aimed to break the Gaza blockade and deliver essential humanitarian aid.
The ministers of Türkiye, Brazil, Jordan, Pakistan, Spain, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Colombia, Maldives, South Africa and Libya said the flotilla was a peaceful civilian humanitarian initiative.
The joint statement said Israeli attacks on the vessels and the detention of humanitarian activists in international waters violated international law. Moreover, it said these acts also violated international humanitarian law.
The ministers called on the international community to uphold legal obligations, protect civilians and ensure accountability over the maritime operation.
