Singer D4vd will be represented by a public defender in his murder case after a judge allowed three private attorneys to withdraw from his defence.
According to the BBC, lawyers Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter confirmed on Monday, August 31, that the court granted their withdrawal request and appointed the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office to represent the 21-year-old musician.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, qualified for appointed counsel, according to his former lawyers. They added that they continued to support his defence against the charges.
Deputy Public Defender Walid Kandeel said Burke was entitled to a defence that carefully examined the evidence and took his circumstances seriously.
Burke also entered a not-guilty plea again Monday in a Los Angeles court to charges connected to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Prosecutors allege Burke killed Hernandez after years of sexual abuse. They accuse him of stabbing the teenager and later dismembering her body.

Authorities discovered Hernandez’s remains in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to Burke’s address.
Burke faces charges of first-degree murder, mutilation of human remains and child sexual abuse. The allegations remain unproven unless established in court. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for October 19.
