MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin: Tony Romo now faces four citations tied to his July 23 OWI arrest after authorities filed three additional citations on August 27, according to court records.

The new citations allege first-offence operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right and possession of open intoxicants in a vehicle. Romo previously received a citation for refusing an intoxication test.

Under Wisconsin law, a first-offence OWI is generally a civil violation rather than a criminal charge. Romo is due in court on September 21 over all four citations.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Romo said the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback “accepts full responsibility” and has taken steps to resolve the case.

The spokesperson also said his representatives were working with authorities and discussing next steps with CBS.

Milwaukee County authorities arrested Romo, 46, after stopping him on Interstate 43. Officials said he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, while deputies reported finding an open alcoholic beverage inside his vehicle.

CBS Sports placed Romo on leave “until further notice” on July 31. Earlier this month, CBS Sports president David Berson said the network was still assessing the situation and had set no timetable for a decision.

During Romo’s absence, J.J. Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson on CBS Sports’ lead NFL broadcast team. Their first scheduled game together is Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers on September 13.
