The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has commenced a probe into alleged discrepancies in ticket sales for the T20 cricket series between Pakistan and New Zealand.
Following several complaints about irregularities in ticket sales in the Pakistan and New Zealand T20i series, the investigation now includes three Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) employees, one of whom works directly under the Chief Executive Officer, Salman Naseer.
The FIA has questioned these individuals to investigate the matter further. Additionally, the agency reviews the contracts established between the PCB and private companies responsible for ticket sales.
Sources within the FIA have disclosed that part of the inquiry involves scrutinizing the issuance of checks related to the ticket sales for the series.
The development follows the recent arrest of Zaheer Ahmed, a Commerce Ministry employee caught selling VIP tickets outside the Kidney Center. Ahmed, who was charged based on a complaint filed by the FIA, admitted to acquiring the VIP tickets from his ministry office and selling them at Rs. 1,000 each, as stated in the case report. The investigation continues as the FIA seeks to clarify the extent of the irregularities and enforce accountability.
