The federal government removed the name of former principal secretary Azam Khan and others from the Exit Control List (ECL) related to the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million scandal.
Sources confirmed that the federal cabinet approved the delisting of eight individuals on the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) recommendation. However, prominent figures will remain on the ECL, including PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Farah Khan, and Zulfi Bukhari. Other individuals cleared include Raja Manzoor Kiani, Arif Rahim, Naveed Akbar, Sikandar Hayat, Nisar Muhammad, Ghulam Hyder, and Arif Nazeer Butt, all previously listed in connection with the £190 million case.
On April 22, Murad Saeed and other former cabinet members were removed from the ECL. Notable names in this group are Ali Amin Gandapur, Ghulam Sarwar, Parvez Khattak, and others, also upon NAB’s recommendation.
Azam Khan, who served as the former Prime Minister’s principal secretary, witnessed the £190 million NCA scandal and gave his statement before NAB.
The NAB’s investigation targets Imran Khan and associates for alleged land misappropriations linked to Al Qadir University Trust, purportedly causing a £190 million loss to the state. This involves an alleged misallocation of Rs50 billion, equivalent to £190 million at the time received from Britain’s NCA.
