An Epstein files exhibit in New York is displaying about 3.5 million pages of US Department of Justice records on Jeffrey Epstein, bound into 3,437 volumes at a temporary reading room in Tribeca.
The pop-up, created by the Washington-based Institute of Primary Facts, is titled “The Donald J Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room.” Visitors can register online to view the exhibition before it closes on May 21.
The files were released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, but the general public cannot consult the documents because the Department of Justice failed to redact some victim names. Access exceptions apply to some professionals, including journalists and lawyers.
The exhibit also includes a display on the past relationship between President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges involving minors.
David Garrett, one of the project’s creators, told AFP the group uses pop-up museums and in-person displays to educate the public about corruption and democracy-related risks in the United States. He said the project aimed to create public pressure for accountability over the handling of the document release.
