Corps Commanders met in the garrison city of Rawalpindi with Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) to discuss measures against militancy and terrorism.
The top military brass reviewed interior security matters in the view of Dec 16 militant attack on an army-run school in Peshawar where 149 people, mostly children, were ruthlessly slaughtered.
In today’s key meeting, sources said, army commanders also discussed overall steps being taken to punish militants including convicted terrorists, of which seven have been hanged so far.
The Corps Commanders also reviewed progress in military operations underway in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency where Taliban and other militants groups have taken refuge after fleeing the offensive.
Also, the commanders discussed fresh tensions with India at the Line of Control and Sialkot Working Boundary.
