The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, has voiced its objection, stating that the release of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s film will not be permitted.
Ameya Khopkar, a politician and producer, emphasized, “Pakistani films will not be allowed to be released in India. We will also prohibit their artists from participating in Indian films.”
Khopkar, escalating his previous statements, added, “It is particularly egregious that an Indian company is orchestrating this release. Adhering to Raj Saheb’s directives, we will ensure this film does not screen anywhere in India.”
Despite these threats, anticipation among fans continues as they eagerly await the film’s debut.
Previously, producers Ammara Hikmat and director Bilal Lashari announced the India release date, marking a significant moment for cross-border cinema. Lashari expressed his enthusiasm on social media, stating, “I can’t wait for our Punjabi audience in India to experience the magic of this labour of love!”
Despite political and diplomatic shifts, the history of artistic collaboration between Pakistan and India includes notable Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, who have garnered appreciation in Indian cinema. Similarly, Indian actors such as Naseeruddin Shah and Kirron Kher have contributed to Pakistani media.
