TEHRAN, Iran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Friday that renewed Iran sanctions pressure from the United States was “bound to fail”, citing earlier US campaigns against Tehran.
Araghchi made the remarks in a post on X on August 21, responding to Washington’s latest threat of tougher economic measures.
He pointed to previous US policies described as the “most crippling sanctions in history” and “maximum pressure”, saying they had failed to force Iran to change course.
Araghchi also referred to what he described as a demand for “unconditional surrender” five months earlier and rejected the latest threat of the “most crushing economic operation ever”.
“We have seen this movie before,” he wrote, adding that the rhetoric had remained similar while the “bullies” had changed.
