Bodybuilder Dwayne Quamina’s death has been announced at age 40, less than two weeks after the former Mr Olympia competitor placed sixth in the 212 division at the Atlanta Pro.
Quamina, known in bodybuilding as “King Q,” died suddenly on Sunday, according to the supplied report. No official cause of death has been disclosed.
The US Navy veteran competed at the Atlanta Pro on August 9, marking his final bodybuilding appearance. He had returned to competition in 2025 after stepping away from the sport in 2020.
Quamina was born in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to the United States and settling in California. He served in the US Navy for more than a decade before establishing his professional bodybuilding career.
He won the lightweight category at the 2016 NPC USA Championships and the 2017 Europa Phoenix Pro. Quamina later finished 10th in the 212 division at the 2018 Mr. Olympia and placed third at the Chicago Pro following his 2025 comeback.

Tributes followed from fellow competitors, including James Hollingshead and eight-time Ms Olympia champion Lenda Murray.
A fundraiser has also been established to support Quamina’s wife, Leah, and their children.
