China said Saturday it was “strongly dissatisfied” with a US Pentagon list update that added major Chinese companies accused by Washington of aiding China’s military.
The list includes Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, NIO, Trina Solar and JA Solar Technology. The US Defence Department update covered a broad group of Chinese technology, auto and solar firms.
China’s Commerce Ministry said Beijing “firmly opposes” the move and urged Washington to withdraw the measures. It said the United States should return to a constructive, stable relationship with China.
The ministry warned that China would retaliate “resolutely and forcefully” if Chinese companies are not treated fairly. China’s Foreign Ministry also expressed concern about the Pentagon update.
The new list reflects Washington’s security concerns during intense geopolitical competition with Beijing. The update supersedes a previous list from early 2025.
The Pentagon move came a month after US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Beijing and maintained a fragile trade-war truce.

China’s Commerce Ministry said the Pentagon’s move ignored the consensus reached between the two leaders.
Under US law, the Defence Department will be barred from contracting directly with listed companies from 2027. It will also face restrictions on buying their products or services through third parties.
