MIAMI, United States: An Amazon cargo plane crash killed five people and injured five others Sunday after a Boeing 767-300 overran a runway at Miami International Airport, officials said.
The aircraft, 21 Air Flight 7598, was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it overran Runway 30 shortly before 2 p.m. ET. The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Boeing 767-300.
Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the plane struck multiple vehicles before stopping in a field beside the airport.
Three injured people were taken to a trauma centre in critical condition. Two others went to a local hospital, Miami-Dade Fire Chief Raied Jadallah said.

Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said cargo carrier 21 Air operated the flight. She expressed condolences to the families and others affected by the deaths.
The crash triggered a ground stop and initially closed all airport runways and taxiways. Two of Miami International Airport’s four runways reopened after 5 p.m. ET, although a ground delay remained in effect.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded. Firefighters tackled a complex fire involving burning engine compartments, while rescue crews worked to free people trapped in the aircraft and vehicles.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause. The NTSB is expected to provide an on-scene update Monday.
