Bronny James marked his highly-anticipated professional debut with the Los Angeles Lakers during Saturday’s first NBA Summer League game.
James was in the starting lineup and contributed 22 minutes, witnessing his team’s defeat to the Sacramento Kings.
During the game, James struggled with his shooting, managing only 2 of 9 field goals, missing all attempts from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line. He did manage to add 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal, yet his overall performance was underwhelming.
Compounding his challenges, James was notably outplayed by Adonis Arms when he was crossed up. Arms excelled, scoring 32 points and shooting an impressive 70.6% from the field, overshadowing not only James but also Lakers’ first-round pick Dalton Knecht.
Post-game, it was revealed that James was experiencing some swelling in his left knee. Consequently, he has been sidelined from the next Summer League game as a precaution. However, he is expected to return on Wednesday to play against the Miami Heat.
